Awake sleeper, arise from the dead, and Christ will give you light.

 

The night is almost over, and the new day within arm’s reach. My heart has been weary, and my eyelids weighed down but now is the time for awakening, for my salvation is nearer than when I first believed. I cast off darkness, its distractions, its entanglements, and its leftovers. I awaken to righteousness and clothe myself with the armor of light.

 

Jesus, you are Light of the World. Awaken my heart to love you. Revive me according to your tender mercies and your forever loving kindnesses. Strip off the slumber that has kept me from knowing you in the depths of my being. Cast off the grave clothes that have hindered me from walking and following you.
